EXPERT ADVISOR ON FIRE AND EMERGENCY EVACUATION

U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration

Regulations requiring the development of fire fighting and emergency evacuation plans are found in eleven OSHA standards. These regulations may require extensive familiarity in order to successfully implement the various compliance options available to firms in general industry. The complexity and technical issues embedded in occupational safety and health regulations are often daunting to small and medium sized firms. CONSAD was engaged by OSHA to develop computerized programs that can guide users through the process of identifying their regulatory compliance obligations.

The computer program asks questions of the user in an overview mode to establish general applicability of the standard and, then, in a detailed mode to establish which provisions must be followed to ensure compliance with the standard.

CONSAD is also the developer of the Asbestos Advisor, which received the Hammer Award for the contribution that this system made towards the improvement of government service to the public, and the Hazard Awareness Advisor.
